I want you to understand: You don’t need to be an acclaimed explorer. You don’t need to climb a mountain or sail across the world. And it isn’t about what job title you have — or don’t have.

What you truly need is the right sense of wonder, a courageous spirit, and perhaps some encouragement from those who nurture your gifts.

This is a family photo of me as a young boy, perched on the edge of a boat, arms draped out into the cool river water. From the start, I was drawn to exploration — stretching past boundaries, reaching for what lay beyond. That child, restless with curiosity, found freedom and joy in the simple act of feeling the ripple of water beneath his fingertips.

I didn’t grow up in a big city. But adventure was always there, close to home: in every woods, every creek, every new day inviting discovery.

I learned from simple, everyday moments — the value of imagination and a brave heart. These small acts of daring and play taught me far more than any classroom ever could.
